Progress and Skill Transfer at Dan Tloome Mega Project

We are excited to share a significant update on the pavement development initiative in the Rand West City area. This project is about more than just infrastructure; it’s a dedicated effort to invest in our community through skill transfer and local employment.

Pavement Progress: On Track to Transform Our Neighborhoods

Work is progressing rapidly across Erf 1487, 1488, and 1489. We are pleased to confirm that we have successfully completed 500 square meters (sqm) of new paving thus far. This progress is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the local team.

The project is currently on track to reach our major milestone of 2,500 sqm of paving completion by Mid-November. This new paving is transforming open areas and verges into safer, cleaner, and more durable walkways and parking areas for residents.

👷 Safety First: Comprehensive Toolbox Talks

Our commitment to safety is non-negotiable. Before any work begins each day, all personnel participate in Toolbox Talks. These sessions are crucial for ensuring every worker understands the job’s daily plan, potential hazards, and the correct implementation of safety procedures.

By prioritizing comprehensive safety and skills implementation, we create a responsible and efficient working environment.

🤝 Empowerment Through Direct Employment and Skill Transfer

A core objective of this project, facilitated directly by the Foundation, is community empowerment.

Local Labour: The labour force is comprised of residents hired directly by the Foundation. This not only provides immediate employment but also facilitates the transfer of certified paving and construction skills that workers can carry forward to future employment opportunities.
Maximizing Community Impact: To ensure the benefits of this skills training and employment reach as many households as possible, the local labour teams are rotated after every erf is completed. This strategy ensures that the project impacts a larger segment of the community, spreading both economic benefits and technical expertise across the development.
